Taking sustainability into 2025

Sustainability practices to take into 2025. January isn’t over just yet - so we’ve still got time to think about all the ways we want to improve this coming year. We’ve tackled skin care and wellness, but we wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t acknowledge our beautiful planet and what we can do to let it thrive.

Sustainable living isn’t just a trend, it’s a commitment to preserving resources, reducing waste and fostering a harmonious relationship with the planet that gives us life. So in the light of doing good, here’s some impactful practices to take with you into 2025.

Adopt a circular mindset.

Embrace the circular economy by exploring second hand shopping vendors like thrift stores, online marketplaces and clothing swaps. Where possible, try mending clothes, refurbishing furniture and repurpose items to get the most use possible out of our possessions before discarding them.

Eat locally.

Food transportation contributes significantly to carbon emissions. Therefore, by choosing local and seasonal produce you reduce your carbon footprint and support local farmers and businesses. Plus the fresher the better! The more the produce, the more nutritious the food.

This could also mean growing your own vegetables, herbs and small fruit trees.

Embrace low-waste living.

It’s time to re-evaluate your kitchen. Do you have reusable items like stainless steel water bottles, cloth shopping bags and beeswax wraps? It’s time to invest - they’re not just better for the environment, they’re way cuter too. Have you considered refill stations for cleaning products and personal care items? They’re a great way to know exactly what you’re filing your home with.

Optimise energy use at home.

Small changes can lead to significant energy savings. Look for energy star rated products for energy efficient appliances, and install smart home systems and smart plugs to reduce unnecessary energy consumption. Of course the big one, switch to renewable energy through solar panels or opting for green energy plans.

Reevaluate transportation choices.

Transportation is one of the leading contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. So consider walking, biking, or using public transport whenever possible. Otherwise try carpooling with friends or coworkers or opting for electric or hybrid vehicles.

Get educated.

Individual actions matter, but collective efforts create larger waves of change. Get involved by supporting policies and businesses that prioritize sustainability (like Pure Planet Club), have in depth discussions with friends and family about environmental issues. The best of all, volunteer for local cleanup drives or conservation projects with charities like Sea Turtle Foundation.

Reconnect with nature.

By incorporating nature into daily life, we can inspire a deeper sense of responsibility for the planet. This connection can be grown by spending more time outdoors and engaging in activities like gardening, hiking or birdwatching.

Sustainable living is about progress, not perfection. Start small, focus on consistency, and celebrate your milestones. By making thoughtful choices and embracing sustainable practices, you’re not only helping the planet but also fostering a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle. Here’s to a greener, brighter 2025!
