Welcome to our February newsletter. We hope your year is off to a good start. Here at Pure Planet Club HQ we have been working on lots of exciting plans for 2022 so stay tuned!
In our January blog's, we shared five fun eco-challenges to try this year, from “plogging” to trying a no-spend month. We’re also busting some myths around what’s earth-friendly and what’s not when it comes to eco toilet roll.
5 earth-friendly ways to celebrate valentines day
1 - Buy plants, not flowers
Flowers are notoriously expensive around Valentine’s Day, so skip the traditional bunch of roses and opt for a plant instead. It’s cheaper and will last for years if cared for properly. Some of our favorite, easy-care plants include Mother-in-Laws tongue, Aspidistra, Devil’s Ivy, Hen and chicken succulents and Peace Lilies. If you do opt for a bunch of flowers, buy them locally and in season, get them wrapped in paper, and avoid box arrangements as they contain floral foam, which contains plastic fibers and microplastics.

2 - Choose experiences, not gifts
From a cheap and cheerful picnic in the park, to a kayaking trip or a weekend away in a tiny home, there’s a huge range of experiences you can gift your beloved, and the memories will last forever.

3 - Treat your sweetheart to eco-friendly beauty products
If your Valentine loves a little pampering, choose make-up and skincare ranges that are kind to the planet. Our beautiful organic plastic-free lip balms come in four great flavors and can be shipped right to your door. Pucker up!
4 - Go DIY
Over a billion cards get given on Valentine’s Day each year, with almost all of them ending up in landfill — coated in glitter, metallic effects, and laminated in plastic. So instead of buying an overpriced card, make your own.

5 - Get cooking!
What better way to show your Valentine how much you care than by spending an hour or two in the kitchen cooking up a storm? Bake a cake or a batch of cookies, or serve up a special dinner for two. It will go a long way to impressing your loved one – plus it’s more personal than buying a gift.
“One of the first conditions of happiness is that the link between man and nature shall not be broken.”
– Leo Tolstoy.
