Feeling alive, feeling connected and catching the sunrise

In my year of growth, discovery and self love, I’ve been challenging myself to stay rooted in nature. Summer beacons my name, calling me to sun-soaked beach days, invigorating hikes and leisurely coffee walks with friends. Though, winter’s dull and wet often leaves me feeling disconnected - adrift. Like nature has suddenly stopped singing, muted by the rain. Read more on how I stay connected with nature here.

Sunshine and a healthy dose of vitamin d have always been my secret elixirs for lifting my spirits and reconnecting with nature. So what do I do now when clouds hang heavy and block the sun? I rise with the dawn.

There is something special about waking up before the sun.

More than witnessing the sun’s first light, the simple act of getting up, stepping outside and breathing in the fresh air is a magic of its own right. It’s about living fully in that quiet moment. Each morning I manage to rise is a testament to my progress, a small victory that says, “I’m here, I’m growing.” Maybe last week I couldn’t, but this week I did. That’s worth celebrating.

Though I can’t deny how captivating the sunrise really is. The transformation from deepest black to the brightest orange is the most powerful reminder to being again, to keep growing and to start each day with grace. As the colours shift, I reflect - on my day, my week, my years ahead. Taking a moment to ground myself and use nature as my inspiration always.
